The role                     

Account Executive                         

Job Purpose

To provide excellent PR skills within an account team, for a portfolio of clients.

Principal Responsibilities

  • To serve as a day to day contact with journalists on the client’s behalf. Research, understand and anticipate journalist interests and needs, which will build closer relationships.
  • Answer journalist questions, coordinate requests and provide useful information.
  • Consider how clients can be included in coverage and propose story ideas to the Accounts Team Leader.
  • Begin to manage day to day activities with clients so that you start to become the first point of contact for example client meetings (draft agenda, arrange meeting, participate).
  • Record PR activity for client activity report and distribute on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis depending on client requirements.
  • Develop clear, concise and professional written work (press releases, reports, meeting notes, email comments. factsheets etc.)
  • To work on ad hoc client projects and take responsibility for the day to day management of the project.
  • Meet BM’s guidelines on servicing, daily timesheets, accurate billing, timely expense reports etc.
  • Build on knowledge of PR and client areas/industry/competitors by reading daily coverage/publications, attending training courses and networking events Participate in individual professional development and actively share what you learnt with the team.
  • May make presentation to small groups – both with client and within BM. To be aware of Companywide new business initiatives and pursue contacts as appropriate.
  • Be part of a pitch team, taking responsibility for an area and presenting to prospective new client.

Person Specification – Essential requirements are:

  • Minimum 6 months financial services/PR experience
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to communicate within an agency environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills

Account Assistant

Job Purpose

To provide excellent PR account support for the account teams and to develop knowledge of PR and financial services.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Create and update media lists.
  • Format approved press releases, email comments and distribute to targeted journalists.
  • Track and analyse daily coverage from PR efforts and edit according to client profile for cuttings and coverage reports.
  • Develop clear, concise and professional written work (e.g. Client/journalist meeting briefing notes)
  • Provide support on client exhibitions/events.
  • Conduct client research for existing clients on behalf of the team (e.g. event venues, new product competitor analysis).
  • Take additional administrative responsibilities where necessary (for example weekly Bulletins, website administration).
  • To conduct research for any new business presentations on behalf of pitch team.

Person specification – requirements are:

Essential

  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel and other general computer skills
  • Enthusiastic with proactive, can do attitude
  • Friendly, approachable & smart appearance
  • Good team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

Desirable

  • Advanced knowledge of Word & Excel
  • Experience in a public relations agency
  • Good knowledge of powerpoint
