The University of Westminster has appointed Broadgate Mainland to manage its external relations and promote the university in the UK and to overseas markets.
Broadgate Mainland’s professional development practice will provide wide-ranging support for the leading new London University and international research centres, from stakeholder and media relations to social media advice and the agency was appointed after a competitive tender.
The University of Westminster was recently labelled the UK’s most improved university according to The Sunday Times’ league table and the best new university in London, after leaping 25 places over the last two years in the league table. The University’s research leads the way in many areas including art and design, electronic engineering and the media. Its expertise in media studies, art and design, architecture and the built environment are considered to be world-leading centres of excellence.
Account Director Sarah Evans-Toyne, says: “The University has an excellent reputation in academia across a diverse range of schools including the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, the Westminster Business School and the School of Media, Arts and Design. We look forward to building upon the university’s strengths as well as highlighting the areas in which the university is excelling.
“Given the changes occurring in higher education and increasing competition, we see it’s important for universities to promote themselves more widely and across the media effectively. As an agency that has made its name in the commercial sector but with diverse team skills and knowledge, we can bring this strength of experience to support the University’s objectives.”
Sarah Carthew, Director of Marketing, Communications and Development, University of Westminster, says: “Broadgate Mainland impressed us with their knowledge of the media and highly experienced senior team. There are a number of exciting projects in the pipeline and I am sure that the relationship with Broadgate Mainland will produce attractive returns.”
The account will be managed by Broadgate Mainland’s Mark Knight, Sarah Evans-Toyne, Simon Butt-Bethlendy, Jo McGilway and Melanie Bradley.
